UPDATE: Advice to schools about COVID-19

A number of parents and carers have contacted the school, asking about measures being taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19.

The school would like to assure all parents and carers that we are closely following Government advice (which is updated daily) and that we remain ready to act on that advice as soon as is reasonably possible.

Please be aware that we are following Government advice (updated yesterday, 25 February 2020) for “educational settings” which you can view here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-educational-settings-about-covid-19/guidance-to-educational-settings-about-covid-19. Included with this advice are general principles anyone can follow to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses.

If you have recently returned from a Category 1 location in the past 14 days, including any Italian town under containment measures (see link below), you should self-isolate, even if you show no symptoms of the virus. You should also call NHS 111 to inform them of your recent travel.

However, if you have returned from a Category 2 country in the past 14 days, you are advised to stay at home if you develop symptoms, however mild. If that is the case you should self-isolate and call 111.

The guidance for Italy and other Category 2 countries applies to individuals who returned from these specific areas on or after 19 February 2020.

Details of Category 1 and 2 locations can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-specified-countries-and-areas/covid-19-specified-countries-and-areas-with-implications-for-returning-travellers-or-visitors-arriving-in-the-uk

If you have further concerns about these, or any other relevant issues, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
