Two of our Year 9 students, Lottie and Isobel, were finalists in the West Kent heat of the Kent Grammar School Symposium, where students speak for five minutes on a topic of their choice. Both students had progressed through internal heats at Weald, to be chosen to represent the school in this competition which was held at Judd, and included students from Tunbridge Wells Girls Grammar School, Judd, Skinner's, and Cranbrook. Isobel spoke brilliantly on "Nothing is a Coincidence; Everything Happens for a Reason" and impressed the judging panel with her clear delivery and uplifting message. Lottie's topic was "The Stained Canvas: What it means to be Asian and Beautiful" and her passion, meticulous research and sophisticated message saw the judges awarding her the Bronze medal and a place in the final in a few weeks. Well done to both Lottie and Isobel who performed wonderfully against some really fascinating topics and accomplished speakers; we are incredibly proud of you both.
