In-Year Admissions
Weald of Kent Grammar School welcomes applications from students wishing to join us in any year group, although we strongly recommend that parents and carers consider carefully the implications of moving schools during an examination year.
As Weald of Kent Grammar School is its own admissions authority, applications are considered in accordance with our published Admissions Policy.
Applications should be made using the Kent County Council online In-Year Application Form (IYAF). This can be accessed using the link here or via Kent County Council's In-Year Admissions page.
Assessment
Students applying for a place at Weald of Kent Grammar School will be required to sit a CAT4 assessment, which assesses verbal, non-verbal, quantitative and spatial reasoning.
In accordance with our Admissions Policy, applicants must achieve results that meet the required academic standard for their year group in order to be considered for a place.
Meeting the required academic standard does not guarantee an offer of a place, as an offer can only be made where a vacancy is available in the relevant year group.
Where a student meets the required academic standard and a place is available, the school will write to the parent or carer to confirm the offer of a place.
Where a student meets the required academic standard, but there is no vacancy in the relevant year group, the student will be placed on the waiting list in accordance with our Admissions Policy.
Parents and carers have the right to appeal against a decision not to offer a place. Further information about the appeals process can be found in the Appeals section of our Admissions pages.
How to Apply
To apply for an in-year place:
- Complete the Kent County Council online In-Year Application Form (IYAF) using the link above.
- Once submitted, the application will be sent directly to Weald of Kent Grammar School for consideration. Kent County Council will also receive a copy for its records.
- The school will process the application in accordance with its published Admissions Policy and will notify parents or carers of the outcome.
- Applications must be received at least one week before the relevant CAT4 assessment date in order to be considered for that assessment session.
- Applications received after this deadline will be considered for the next available assessment date.
- From 1 October 2026, paper copies of the In-Year Application Form will no longer be accepted. Applications must be submitted using the online form.
