Swim Team Make Waves in Kent Schools Competition

A team of Mia Burns, Madeleine Burton, Rosie Compton, Ella Plowman and Isabel Tyler made up the junior team. Despite having had no opportunity to train together, the girls delivered outstanding performances with all of the girls receiving medals for achieving finals.
There were particularly strong performances from Madeline Burton who won Silver in the 200m Individual Medley taking almost 6 seconds off her personal best time, Mia Burns and Ella Plowman came 4th and 6th respectively in the 100m Individual Butterfly, Ella taking 6.5 seconds off her previous personal best time.  Rosie also qualified second for the 200 Individual Medley final and Isabel was pleased to take another 2 seconds off her 100m backstroke time.
The team relays were the highlight of the day, with both our junior medley team and junior freestyle teams making the finals . The medley team consisting of Rosie, Isabel, Mia and Madeline came 5th overall beating TWGGS and Walthamstow Hall. The freestyle relay team made up of Mia, Rosie, Ella & Madeline was thrilling to watch, positions changing with every length, and with a nail biting finish with the girls winning an excellent bronze.
The performance was particularly exceptional considering 4 out of the 5 girls were are year 7 students - in a junior age group made up of combined year 7 & 8.
