Three Peaks Challenge

Huge congratulations to a group of nine Year 12s led by Polly Pitcairn-Knowles and Isabel Bass who left for their 3 Peaks Challenge on Thursday 14 July and returned triumphant on Sunday 17 July. The other team members were Katie Gilligan, Victoria Brewer, Joss Gaddie, Sam Wastell, Tommy Mack, Toby Haylett, Beth Hawksfield

They took on this incredible challenge in order to raise money for our Sports Hall. Driven in the School Minibus by Mr Pitcairn-Knowles & Mr Brewer, the team climbed Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon between 5pm on Friday and 5pm Saturday. The Team covered 1370 miles in what affectionately became known as ‘The WoK Wagon’ and braved 50 mph winds and torrential rain continuously on the Friday. Mr Pitcairn-Knowles reported that this was surely an experience that the Students will never forget, but certainly one that will be a building block for their futures. Thanks must also go to Andy Wood, coach at the Tonbridge Athletics club and the adult in charge on the Mountain. He did an amazing job not just achieving the feat himself but encouraging those that were struggling by walking and chatting with them when all they wanted to do was stop.

It’s not too late to sponsor the Team should you wish to and thanks to all who have donated so far:
