Kent County Schools Championship  |

| On Saturday 8th June Elizabeth Viola in year 9 took part in the Kent County School Championship. Her event was javelin and despite windy conditions she placed 8th with a distance of 17.36 meters. |

Mr Tonkin Presents His Latest Novel  |

| Weald of Kent English teacher, Peter Tonkin, presents 7 Blue with a copy of his novel, Black Pearl, the latest (27th) in the popular Mariner series of Action Adventure novels set in West and Central Africa, although it is a ‘free-standing’ adventure that can be read on its own. |

Race for Life  |

| Well done to the six girls from 7 Purple who completed the 5km ‘Race for Life’ in Dunorlan Park on Sunday 9 June with finishing times between 29 and 46 minutes. They raised much needed funds for Cancer Research and had a great time taking part. |

Charity Concert raises £900  |

| On Saturday 25 May, young Jazz musician, Asha Parkinson, Year 9, and her Jazz Quartet Out of the Loop (Sam Ainslie, Ben Crane and James Dancer) hosted a fantastic charity concert with guest performers at St Saviour’s Church in Tonbridge which raised over £900 for Syria Relief and Amnesty International. |

KS3 Recital  |

| Well done to the soloists who played in the KS3 Recital evening, a new informal event for students to perform, in front of a supportive audience of family and friends. A variety of musical repertoire was heard, including classical solos, popular vocal songs and jazz from Improvisation Group. An inspiring evening displaying our musical talent! |

PTA and Eco Forum Phil the Bag!  |

| Many thanks to the PTA and the Eco Forum who coordinated a fantastic collection of clothes and materials. The Weald community of students, parents and teachers donated over a tonne of material which was collected by Phil the Bag at the end of April. This has raised over £500 for the PTA and all the material will be donated to developing countries or recycled. We have plans for the next collection in October 2013. |

NHS Schools Competition  |

| Congratulations to Holly Ayling, Suzy Bigwood and Alexandra Vine of 8 purple who entered the NHS Schools Competition to create marketing material for an NHS career. Choosing the role of paramedic, they created a video and came “highly commended” out of 670 entries. |

Spring Music Concert 2013  |

| Once again all ensembles and 6th form soloists displayed their amazing talents to a large and appreciative audience. Items included moving and memorable titles such as ‘Titanic’,’ Moulin Rouge’, ‘Tarzan’ and staff choir’s Hallelujah from ‘Shrek’. Students enjoyed their moment and shone in this celebration of their hard work and commitment. |
